Charles is a former Visiting Lecturer at the University of Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA.

He started his business career on the London Stock Exchange with Mullens & Co, the British Government brokers. After gaining experience of the various back-office functions, he became a dealer, operating in both the gilt-edged and equity markets.

He then spent some years in retail bookselling, including a year running the Import Department of an international book business based in Madrid.

Charles obtained the RSA Preparatory Certificate for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (Grade A) in 1982 and has more than 25 years’ experience of directing and running English for Business courses both in London and abroad.

In Turkey he has worked with Aviva, Bayer, Clariant, Lilly and Total. He has also run a number of more specialised courses, including seminars for Japanese dealers with Nomura Securities, Presentation Skills training for such companies as Novartis in Switzerland, AMU, Ericsson and ESAB in Sweden, and Roche and Gillette in Spain and courses in Effective Handling of Meetings for Bayer in Germany, as well as a recent course in London on English for HR Professionals.

He has much experience of working with Spanish companies, and was director of a three-year programme for companies of the INI/Teneo group in Madrid; as such, he was responsible for organising and implementing the programme, co-ordinating as well as actively participating in the training and monitoring and assessing the progress of up to 70 managers from different companies at a time.

For the last six years, he has been one of a team of trainers who have been involved in Speaker Training programmes for GE Healthcare, Novartis, Pfizer, Roche and Sanofi-Aventis. He has delivered such training in Europe, Asia and North and South America.
